AdBlue Repairs Specialist
If your AdBlue warning light has come on, it’s not something to put off. Run the system too low, and your vehicle may refuse to restart – and if there’s a fault with the AdBlue pump or injector, topping up alone won’t fix it. At Fred Henderson, we specialise in AdBlue repairs and can diagnose and resolve most issues the same day.
Some garages will just clear the fault codes for you, but at Fred Henderson, we diagnose the issue properly so we can fix it properly.
Our process includes:
Once we know what’s wrong, we follow our own comprehensive repair process:
AdBlue is a critical part of the emissions system on most modern diesel vehicles. A fault left unattended won’t just trigger a warning light – it can result in:
Whilst a repair might seem like an unwelcome expense, getting the AdBlue fault accurately diagnosed and properly repaired is always the smarter option.
Fred Henderson has the diagnostics capability and hands-on experience to handle AdBlue issues properly. If your warning light is on or your system is due for a top-up, get in touch with our team in Langley Moor, near Durham, and we’ll get it sorted.
AdBlue is a clear fluid used by most modern diesel cars to reduce harmful exhaust emissions. It’s stored in a separate tank to your fuel and is used automatically while you drive. Without it, your car’s engine management system will eventually prevent the car from starting — so keeping it topped up is important.
Your car will usually give you plenty of warning. You’ll see a dashboard warning light or message telling you the level is low, often with an estimate of how many miles you have left. Don’t ignore it — if the tank runs completely dry, you may find your car won’t start until it’s been refilled and the system reset.
This warning means your car has detected a problem with its AdBlue system — and is refusing to start as a result. It’s not always as simple as just topping up the fluid. The fault could be caused by an empty tank, a faulty sensor, contaminated AdBlue, or an issue with the injection system. A garage will need to plug in a diagnostic tool to find the root cause and clear the fault properly.
If the tank has run dry, refilling it may help — but it won’t always be enough on its own. Many cars need the warning reset by a garage after a No Start fault, even once the fluid has been topped up. If you’ve already refilled it and the car still won’t start, bring it in and we’ll get it sorted.
It depends on the cause. If a component like a sensor or pump has failed, it may well be covered — especially on newer vehicles. However, faults caused by running the tank empty or using the wrong type of fluid usually aren’t. If you’re unsure, bring the car in, and we can advise you before any work is carried out.
At Fred Henderson, we’re pleased to offer a discount to students and Blue Light Card holders – our way of saying thank you to those who deserve a fair deal.
